Help finish my Dreamer Documentary

My name is Maribel Serrano and I'm a DACA recipient.

I was brought into the USA when I was 4 years old. I didn't know until I started applying for college that I was undocumented. After president Obama created DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) I was lucky enough to receive a work permit and was able to attend college.

I'm the firs one in my family to attend University.

A few months ago I received a special permit called Advanced Parole and was allowed to return to Mexico for just one week for the first time in 25 years. It was a magical experience. I took a film crew with me and was able to capture beautiful moments of reunions with my family and re connecting with my roots.

The goal of this documentary is to not only share my journey with the world, but to also highlight the positive contributions of immigrants to the US. There are many people in my same situation. The US is our country, our home, and our future.

This campaign is to raise funds to be able to finish the documentary. The money raised will help us finish filming, hire a great editor, acquire music rights, hire a composer, hire an animator, hire a sound designer, cover production costs and film festival submissions.

This is some of the press we've received for the film:
